2:30 am
It was 2:30 in the morning, but I couldn’t sleep. An hour earlier it had started raining and I was worried about the kids.
Were they safe?
Did it rain enough to flood the drainage canal?
Did they get something to eat?
Are they warm enough?
I had only just met the street kids that Lily and Ellie work with, but I could tell that these kids have a lot of pain in their little hearts.
Daily life for these kids is a struggle. Food and water aren’t a guarantee. There isn’t a roof over their heads. They don’t have clean clothes. They aren’t taken to the doctor right away when they are sick. It’s a tough life for them; so tough that many turn to drugs to find relief. Seeing one of them with a bottle of glue held up to their nose is a common thing.
These kids are hurting. They need the kind of healing that only Jesus can provide.
Can you please pray for these kids? Pray for open and tender hearts, that they would be open to receive the love that God has for them. Pray that Lily and Ellie would be able to reach them; that the kids would let their guards down and open up to them. Pray for the safety of Ellie and Lily, and for the safety of the kids. Pray that the kids would go to centers, or back to their homes. Pray that Lily and Ellie would be refreshed in spirit, that God would continue to work in their lives and through them.
